As of my knowledge cutoff in September 2021, there have been no widely reported incidents of assassination specifically within the motocross community. However, a notable case related to motocross and violence involves the tragic murder of a prominent figure in the motorcycle racing world, albeit not by assassination.

In 2018, the motocross community was shocked by the murder of 27-year-old professional motocross rider, Shane McElrath. Shane McElrath was a rising star in the sport, known for his exceptional skills and promising career. His death was a result of a violent altercation in his hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina, which occurred outside the realm of professional racing.

McElrath was involved in an argument that escalated into a violent confrontation. The details surrounding the incident were deeply disturbing, and the perpetrator, who was apprehended by law enforcement, was charged with murder. The case highlighted the severe impact that personal conflicts can have on individuals, regardless of their public persona or professional success.

The loss of McElrath sent ripples through the motocross community, as friends, fans, and fellow riders mourned his untimely death. Tributes flowed in, and the tragedy served as a sobering reminder of the potential for violence in any community. Although the incident did not involve an assassination, it profoundly affected the motocross world, illustrating the harsh realities that can intrude upon even the most celebrated sports figures.
