After a beloved 24-year-old state champion motocross rider died in a working accident, a close-knit rural community is in sorrow.

Jake Williams was working at the Raglan St joinery in the rural town of Roma, central Queensland, when he sustained severe head injuries early on Friday.

About 1.50 am, when emergency personnel arrived on the site, they discovered Mr. Williams was unconscious.

Sadly, he passed away right there.

Mr. Williams won the 13–15 years 125cc and the 15 years 250cc Queensland Motocross Championships in 2016 in Hervey Bay in the southeast of the state.

According to the website Motoonline.com, “Mr. Williams simply dominated the entire weekend.”

Mr. William’s passion for motocross is clear from the numerous pictures and videos of him that he has shared on Facebook and Instagram.

Thomas Wilkinson, a resident of Roma, sent the message “fly high brother” after sharing several tales about Mr. Williams’ passing on Facebook.

On Facebook, friend Remi Kai said that Mr. Williams was “taken too soon.”

“A wonderful young man, tragically taken from us too soon.” Alanah Ladbrook also said, “You fit so much into your life and did all who knew you proud.”

Fly high, brother, urged Thomas Wilkinson, and “taken too soon, our dear friend,” said Remi Kai.

According to reports, a piece of machinery seriously wounded Mr. Williams.

A representative for Workplace Health and Safety stated that the incident was being looked into.

He stated, “Workplace Health and Safety Queensland (WHSQ) is investigating an incident that happened at Roma to see if it was related to work.”

“Queensland Police Service, who responded to the incident initially, notified WHSQ of it.”

In addition, police are working on a coroner’s report.
