The cause of death for former NBA player Darius Morris has just been revealed as heart disease, with drug and alcohol use playing a significant role. According to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner, Darius’ official cause of death is coronary artery disease.

Former Lakers Guard Darius Morris Passes Away At Age 33

According to the Medical Examiner’s death investigation summary, obtained by TMZ Sports, drug and alcohol use was a significant factor in Darius’ death, particularly the effects of cocaine, hydrocodone, and ethanol.

The former Los Angeles Lakers guard’s death has been ruled accidental.

As we reported, Darius was found dead in a Los Angeles-area home on May 2. According to the ME report, he was examined the following day, and alcohol, cocaine, and hydrocodone were still present in his system.

The ME report further notes that no drugs were found at the scene, and Darius’ body was decomposing when discovered, emitting a foul odor. He was last known to be alive on April 22, when he told his mother he was feeling ill and experiencing flu-like symptoms.

Darius, who played four seasons in the NBA with the Lakers, 76ers, Clippers, Grizzlies, and Nets before continuing his career overseas, was only 33 years old.
