Detroit Tigers' Kerry Carpenter is a great hitter, and now a reliable  outfielder too

The Detroit Tigers placed outfielder Kerry Carpenter on the 10-day injured list on Wednesday due to a back injury. The 26-year-old is suffering from lumbar spine inflammation, and his IL designation is retroactive to Monday.

Carpenter is hitting .283 with eight home runs and 29 RBIs in 50 games during his third season with the Tigers. The 2019 19th-round draft pick has a career batting average of .275, with 34 home runs and 103 RBIs across 199 games.

Detroit called up outfielder Akil Baddoo from Triple-A Toledo to take Carpenter’s place on the 26-man roster.

Baddoo, 25, tripled and scored a run in his only previous at-bat with the Tigers this season on May 12 against the Houston Astros. At Toledo this year, he is batting .253 with six home runs, 22 RBIs, and 16 stolen bases in 40 games.”
